Take a break from the surf and sands at Lahugala Kitulala national park !
This is one of the smallest of the national parks in Sri Lanka with an area of 1,554 hectares. However, it is considered very valuable as it plays an important role for the local elephant population and for its endemic birds. If you are in Pottuvil or in Arugam Bay for a surf holiday and wish to get a glimpse of Sri Lankan wildlife, just drop in.
The different reservoirs and tanks here are definitely relaxing. Also note that in its southern part, the park contains the historic site of Maha Vihara Magul, built for the wedding of King Kavantissa (205-161 BC).
