Postal Service in Sri Lanka
Postal services are quite satisfactory from Sri Lanka. It takes about a week for a letter sent by airmail to reach Europe and North America but longer to Africa and South America. Mail sent within Asia and to the Indian subcontinent reach in about four to five days and the same applies to Australia.
Post offices are open during the week from 8 am to 5 pm and from 8 am to 1 pm on Saturdays. If you wish to be sure that your stamps would not be tampered with, you can get them stamped at post offices. It is better to post your letters yourself in post boxes according to their destination: green for Colombo, red for all letter within the island except Colombo and blue for letters sent overseas.
